MATCH RESULTS

The first G4L match away against Tewkesbury Park was just lost by 3 points - a  good result.  The next match is at home against Minchinhampton on April 28.

The Seniors Team played their first match away at Cleeve Cloud and lost 5.5 to 0.5, although no match was lost by more than 2 and 1.

APRIL COMMITTEE MEETING

At their April Committee meeting, the Committee:

  • Agreed to coopt Amanda Chong as a Committee member
  • Noted that there are currently 178 paid up Club members.  Last year there were 207, and we expect to reach that number again – if you have yet to pay your annual subscription, please do so as soon as possible.
  • Congratulated Leo Lucas on raising almost £2900 for his charity, Hope For Tomorrow, and agreed to use Club funds to make this up to £3000.
  • Set up a Disciplinary and Grievance and an Appeals Committee in line with the Club policy agreed last autumn.
  • Noted that the qualifier for the national 9 hole competition is scheduled for a Friday evening. The Committee agreed that this should be expanded to cover all of the Friday so that seniors could play on the Friday morning.  The possibility of a more regular Friday club evening was discussed – it was agreed to see how entries went for the 9 hole competition and to discuss the idea more widely.

THE A.G.M WAS HELD ON 19 MARCH 2019

Thirty five Club members attended the AGM and heard reports on the past year from each of the Captains and the Secretary.  The Ladies section expressed their thanks for the many years of captaincy that Carol Lane was now completing.

Members approved the accounts for the last year, which showed that the Club had made a small surplus of almost £800 in the last year.  All present agreed to amend the constitution so that the financial year runs from Januray to December. The new Club Captain, Paul Stevens, told members how much he was looking forward to his year and that his charity for the year would be the Multiple Scelorosis Society, which the Ladies Section will also be joining.

The Committee explained their proposals for determining the winner of the Club Championship (and Seniors Championship) in the event of a tie after two rounds.  This will be by play-off over holes 10, 17 and 18, which, in the event of a continuing tie, will be followed by playing hole 18 (as many times as required...) as a sudden death play-off. This was welcomed by those present, and will also be considered by the Ladies section.

The Office-Bearers and General Committee members were approved as follows (since the meeting, Hanif Bhula has resigned as Treasurer):
